DIRECTIONS TO VANDELAC'S

There are two ways one can use to get to Vandelac's -

  • Coming from Ottawa/Gatineau; on the North shore, by the Freeway/Autoroute 50 Est to exit 187 then right on 317 Nord to Ripon; at the flashing light (leave 317 Nord) left to Montpellier (10 Km),  at the one stop sign slight right to stay on 315 Nord, 4 Km to Chemin Caron on the left.
  • Froma Ottawa/Orleans on the South shore,
by the Queensway to highway 174 to Cumberland and the ferry to Masson-Angers, left on 148 Ouest to Thurso, left on 317 North to Ripon, at the flashing light (leave 317 Nord) left to Montpellier (10 Km),  at the one stop sign slight right to stay on 315 Nord, 4 Km to Chemin Caron on the left.

From Ottawa/Gatineau - North Shore via Freeway/Autoroute 50 Est

As you can see from the map below,

  1. The fastest way is from Ottawa, External Affairs Buildings, (Sussex Drive / Kinf Edward, follow sign to Quebec, by way of the Macdonald-Cartier Bridge
  2. Take Freeway / Autoroute 50 Est, right through to exit 187 (to route 317).
  3. Turn right on 317 Nord,
  4. Drive about 30 Km to Ripon until you come to a (second) overhanging light facing a T crossing.
  5. Turn left on the Chemin de Montpellier, drive 10 km; go through Montpellier to the Stop sign.
  6. At the Stop Sign follow highway 315 North; 3.5 km you will see the entrance to the Golf de Montpellier,
  7. Leaving the Golf entrance to your left, drive another 900 meters, : after you see a sign indicating a road to the left,  slow down nearly to a stop stay above the coming hill (to be sure there is no traffic coming uphill).
  8. Turn left on Chemin Caron and you're there: first house the brown and green house on the corner of 315 and Chemin Caron.

Using this route, you will see your last traffic light on Sussex/King Edward at the External Affairs buildings on the Ontario side. Your first stop is at the exit 187 one Flashing light in Ripon and one more stop in Montpellier. Which means that between Vandelac's and Ontario there are two stop signs, one flashing light, and no traffic light.
... A pleasant drive.

From Ottawa/Orleans  -
via South shore, by the Queensway to Highway 174 to Cumberland and the ferry to Masson-Angers.

If the Queensway is your normal freeway across Ottawa ...

  1. On the 417 going East, take the exit to provincial highway 174 East (approx 20 km) until the overhanging light in Cumberland.
  2. At the light turn left to take the ferry to Masson-Angers (24 hrs/day, 365 days/yr; $6.50).
  3. On the Quebec side drive straight off the ferry until you reach provincial highway 148.
  4. Turn right on 148 East heading towards Thurso 13 km away; at the light in Thurso...
  5. Turn left onto provincial highway 317 North.
  6. Drive approximately 30 km to come to a T crossing in Ripon. Turn left on the Chemin de Montpellier, 10 km; go through Montpellier to the Stop sign.
  7. At the Stop Sign follow 315 North; 3.5 km later you will see the entrance to the Golf de Montpellier, drive another 900 meters, leaving the Golf to your left :
  8. After you see a sign indicating a road to the left, stay above the coming hill, slow down nearly to a stop (to be sure there is no traffic coming uphill).
  9. Turn left on Chemin Caron and you're there: the brown and green house on the corner.
